Rabbi Ben Zion Yadler [1871-1962] 'The Maggid of Jerusalem', a well known darshan in the old Yishuv, in Jerusalem and the agricultural settlements. Ordained for the rabbinate by the Rabbi of Jerusalem Rabbi Shmuel Salant. In his youth he was revealed to be a talented darshan when he delivered the 'hadran' in the 'Churva' synagogue at siyumim of tractates which his father held there. Rabbi Shmuel Salant appointed him as 'Maggid Meisharim' in Jerusalem - a role which he held for many years without receiving payment. In 1918 he established an ultra-orthodox school for girls, the first in Israel, currently the 'Old Beit Yaacov'. In the month of Elul 1923 he participated in the Knessiah HaGedolah of Agudat Yisrael in Vienna and spoke before the participants about the spiritual condition of the Land of Israel.
