Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv [1910-2012], was born in the city Shavel which is in Lithuania as an only son after 17 years of marriage. In 1924 he immigrated to Israel with his family who settled in the Meah Shearim neighborhood in Jerusalem. He served as dayan in the Great Rabbinical Court, known mainly for his exceptional diligence all his years, from the moment he was able. He later became the greatest adjudicator of the generation, and leader of the generation.
