Chasidic tradition relates that the author, together with his brother Rabbi Shmuel Shmelke of Horowitz, were among the greatest disciples of the Maggid of Mezritch. And many of his masterpieces relate to him and his brothers about the connection between them and with the "Maggid" disseminates the teachings of the Besht Hasidism.This reference can be found in his introduction to his first book, Sefer ha-Hafala, where the author tells of his deep ties with his older brother Rabbi Shmuel Shmalka Horowitz of Nikolsburg In the life of the Gaon of Vilna, and the ban was in force, the author wrote great titles of honor for his brothers, passing on the Chasidut of the Maggid of Mezritch to future generations. All this indicates that the Hasidic tradition has a basis for trusting, about "the owner of the Hafla" and the author of Sefer HaMikneh, and about his deep ties with the Maggid of Mezritch and the world of Hasidism. The son-in-law of the author was Rabbi Avraham Chaim son of Gedalia of Zlotzew, one of the greatest disciples of the Maggid of Mezritch, author of the famous Hasidic book "Orach Chaim" - Berdichev, 1817. Another son-in-law of the author is Rabbi Zvi Yehoshua Horowitz, son of the Rebbe Shmelka. Chidushei Torah from which they were printed at the end of the book Ha-Hafla'ah.

In addition, the son of the author, Rabbi Meir Yaakov HaLevi Horowitz, was the son-in-law of Rabbi Shaul Amsterdam, the esteemed rabbi of Amsterdam. He died in his youth, in the life of his father, "the Hafla" and in the life of his father-in-law Rabbi Shaul. See 'ozar hachochma no. 13084.

In fact, this book is one of the earliest books in which the teachings of the Maggid of Mezritch were printed.

256 pages. 32.5 cm high quality paper.Bound in plain cardboard binding. Rear cover is made of leather, worn on back cover. Many of the book's pages have large text-damaged moth holes.  Moderate condition.

The author was the rabbi of Frankfurt am Main after the death of his father on the 2 nd of Nissan 1805.

On the last leaves are Torah novellae by Rabbi Zvi Yehoshua Horowitz, son of the Rebbe Reb Shmale of Nikolsburg, and the brother-in-law of the author. The author's brother, Rabbi Meir Ya'akov Horowitz, son-in-law of the revered Rabbi Shaul Rabah of Amsterdam
