A Plate for a Torah Scroll – Vienna, the Late 19th Century
Circa 1890.
Hammered and engraved silver (marked).
At its head, a crown. In the middle, a pair of lions holding the Stone Tablets with the engraved Ten Commandments. An opening for an alternating plate. On the back side, a compartment for the plates with a door. There are three original plates (marked) with an inscription of the Jewish holidays.
On the crown, an engraved dedication: Donated by Ms&Mrs Leon Ohl In Honor of Their Grand Children.
Height: 38 cm.
Width: 26 cm.
Total Weight: 650 gr.
Condition: Good. Repairs and a few flaws. An original chain for hanging.
