Two handles of Atzei Chaim (their lower part) and an upper part of an Etz Chaim (decorated), all made of ivory. Usually, ivory was used to decorate the Atzei Chaim; whereas, here is a unique case of the Atzei Chaim themselves made of this lovely material.
The Atzei Chaim were of a Torah Scroll that was written by Karaite Jews. On one of the handles there is a Hebrew inscription: "for the community Bnei Mikrah … today Thursday the 13th of Menachem Av 1636". The Karaite Jews were also known as "Bnei Mikrah" and the Atzei Chaim before us were of a Torah Scroll that used to be read by them approximately 400 years ago.
A unique, ancient item!
Length of the handles: 14.5 cm.
Condition: Good. One handle is slightly damaged in its lower part. The upper part is also damaged and has a few cracks that match the age of the item.
