The kabbalist Rabbi Moshe ben Yitzchak Edra'i, one of the geniuses of North Africa and a great Darshan. He was born in Agadir, Morocco in 1775. At the age of 14, he started delivering sermons and became a Darshan who was well-known throughout North Africa. In 1791 he travelled to London, where he studied at the "Etz Chaim" Beit Midrash. There he edited the book "Torat Chaim" with Tikkun Leil Shishi and prayers and Zohar that are said before the Tikkun. During his stay in London, he published an article on the Ten Lost Tribes.
In 1802, he moved to Amsterdam, where he became one of the rabbis of the Great Beit Midrash of the Sephardim and where he published his book "Yad Moshe" – sermons, and the book "Ma'aseh Nissim" – on the Ten Lost Tribes. His books were approbated by the most prominent rabbis, who praised his enterprises. The book on the Ten Lost Tribes was translated into English and German.
He immigrated to the Land of Israel in 1841 after a journey that lasted four years and during which he travelled through France, Italy, Malta and Izmir. In Izmir, he lost many of his possessions and writing in a fire. In 1842 he published in Jerusalem the book "Azharot" by Rabbi Reuven Albarceloni.
