Seder Ha'Yom – Venice 1599 – First Edition – the Copy of the Divine Philosopher Rabbi Moshe Chefetz with His Signature – a Nice, Complete Copy
Seder Ha'Yom by the Kabbalist Rabbi Moshe Ben Machir. Venice 1599. Daniel Zanetti printing press. First edition.
A basic, important book which contains a Kabbalistic commentary on the prayers for all year round and Kabbalistic practices. Dozens of editions have been printed since this first edition of the book.
A complete copy of this first edition of the book is extremely rare! A rare edition which has never been seen in auctions in Israel!
On the title page of the book, faded signatures which are difficult to decipher. On the reverse side of the title page, an ancient inscription: "This book is mine, I am writing … Moshe Chefetz ---". The script is identical to that of Rabbi Moshe Chefetz, of whom we known from other sources (enclosed material). Extremely rare! His signature has never been seen in auctions in Israel and this is most likely the only book in the world with his signature!
Under this inscription, a later inscription from the early 18th century: "This book belongs to …. Meir …". Under it, an ancient inscription in script similar to that of Rabbi Chefetz: "This book was given to me as a gift … Moshe Chefetz".
Rabbi Moshe Chefetz (1664-1712) Av Beit Din of Venice, Italy. He was born in Trieste and grew up in Venice, where he taught Torah. He became known as a researcher, a Divine philosopher and a well-known Torah commentator. His book 'Melechet Machshevet" (Venice 1710) contained a leaf with his portrait, a rare phenomenon those days. He authored additional books, among them "Chanukat Ha'Bayit" – a description of the Second Temple. The geniuses of the generations praised his books.
120 leaves. 19 cm.
