The second, improved edition of the Bible which was publishedin 1660 by Rabbi Yosef Athias and the Calvinist theologist Johannes Leusden, who was well known as an expert Hebrew Philologist, and which was the first edition of the Bible in Hebrew which included numbering of the verses.
This edition was published with additional improvements and new additions by Everard van der Hooght, who even added a long and interesting Latin preface. This edition is acknowledged by the researchers as the edition upon which all of the modern editions of the Bible are based.
latin approbations by academic scholars of Holland (Leiden, Franeker, Utrecht, Groningen, Harderwijk, Deventer).
At the end of the book is a list of textual variations between the Athias, Bomberg, Stephanus, Plantin and other editions.
[26]; 333 [1], 352 [2]; [22] pages. The two parts are bound together.
Part of the title page is in red.
Condition: Very Good. The cover is slightly coming apart in several places. Very few tears in the book.
