Autograph rabbinical ordination- “Semicha” dated 1906, conferring the classic “Yoreh Yoreh Yadin Yadin” upon R. Moshe Shmuel (Shmukler) Shapiro.
R. Yitzchok Yaakov Rabinowitz (1854-1918) was known from a young age as an exceptional Illui. He studied under R. Benzion Sternfeld, R. Yeruchum Pearlman “The Minsker Gadol” and was also a chavrusa of R. Chaim Brisker. In 1889 he was appointed as a Maggid Shiur in Slabodka. Rav in various Lithuanian communities, most notably Ponevezh where he established an important Yeshiva. Author of Zecher Yitzchok.
R. Moshe Shmuel (Shmukler) Shapiro (1880-1962) was born in Volozhin and studied under many of the leading Roshei Yeshiva of his day. He was well known as a distinguished talmid chacham as well as a prolific writer who authored many rabbinic biographies. He immigrated to America in 1923, and in 1927 was appointed Dean of Yeshivas Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin where he served until his retirement in 1950.
