On the back of the title page, a dedication seemingly written and stamped by the author, as gift to a philanthropist.
R. Chaim Chizkiyahu Medini (died 1905) was born in Jerusalem and studied under R. Yitzchok Kobo and R. Yosef Nissim Burlo. Orphaned of his father at a young age, he traveled to Constantinople where he taught Torah and served as a Dayan. He later served as Rav in Krasov eventually returning to Eretz Yisroel where he became the Chief Rabbi of Chevron. Renowned as a phenomenal Talmid Chochom and a great Tzaddik. His Magnum Opus, Sdei Chemed a compendium of Talmudic principles received great acclaim and remains a classic work of Talmudic literature.
