קופסת בשמים עתיקה לליל שבת עם דמויות ושולחן שבת המתארות את ליל שבת בבית היהודי. כסף חתום. טבעות לנשיאה. אירופה, המאה ה – 18/המאה ה – 19.

"בורא עצי/עשבי בשמים" קופסת בשמים ייחודית לליל שבת, מעוטרת בעיטורים(מספר סגנונות).

בתוך הקופסא, ארבע פיסות קטנות בחלק העליון ועליהם מונחת פלטה עם חורים, מסביב רוב החורים חריטות כעין פרח.

מעל הפלטה יצירה מיניאטורית מדהימה וייחודית ביותר המתארת את ליל שבת בבית היהודי. שולחן שבת עם חלות, צלחת וכוסית ונרות שבת על פמוט רב קני. בצד האחד של השולחן האבא עושה קידוש כשהוא אוחז בידו האחת גביע עם רגל ובידו השנייה זמירות שבת ולידו עומד בנו הקטן, בצד השני עומדת האשה כשהיא עומדת ליד נרות השבת ולצדה עומדת בתה.

מכסה הקופסא נפתח ע"י ציר, בחזית שתי אבזמים לסגירה(ניתן אף להשחיל מוט/מנעול דק לנעילה). בשני הצדדים ובחלקו העליון ישנם טבעות, בהם ניתן להשחיל חוט לנשיאה. ארבעה רגליים כעין גולות.

לאחר בדיקה מעמיקה ע"י מומחים לכלי כסף ולאמנות יהודית שנדהמו מגודל היצירה והאמנות הנדירה שנראית כי אין שני לה והיא יחידאית,

לדעת חלק מהמומחים הקופסא היא מהמאה ה – 19 והחלק עם השולחן שבת הוא מקורי ונעשה בשנים ההם. לדעת מומחים אחרים הקופסא היא מהמאה ה - 18 והחלק עם השולחן שבת נעשה מאוחר יותר, ולדעה נוספת הקופסא היא מהמאה ה – 19 והחלק עם השולחן שבת הוא מהשנים המאוחרות יותר. לא עלה בידינו להכריע בין דעות מומחים אלו.

Borei atzei/isvei besamim. Unique spice container for Friday night, adorned with embellishments of various styles.

Inside the upper section of the box are four small protrusions upon which rests a plate with holes. Engravings forming a sort of flower are engraved around most of the holes.

Above the plate is a stunning, unique miniature work of art depicting Friday night in the Jewish home: a Shabbos table with challos, a plate and a glass, along with a multi-branched candelabra. On one side of the table, the father is reciting Kiddush; he is holding a stemmed Kiddush cup in one hand and a zemiros booklet in the other. He is flanked by his young son on one side and his wife, standing near the Shabbos candles, on the other. Standing at the wife's side is their daughter.

The cover of the spice container opens with a hinge. On the front are two clasps to close it (one can also thread a thin rod or bolt through to lock it). On either side and on the top are rings through which a string can be threaded for transport. Four ball-shaped legs.

Sensational museum piece. Stunning and unique Judaica pieces were generally crafted for Rebbes and rabbanim or wealthy people who traveled all over the world. This piece was made in such a fashion as you can see from its size, style and the carrying rings.

We consulted with experts in silver and Jewish art, who were stunned by the size and rare craftsmanship of the piece, which appears to be unique. After careful investigation, some experts say the box is from the 19th century and the part with the Shabbos table is part of the original and was made at the same time. Others felt the box is from the 18th century and the part with the Shabbos table was made later. Yet a third opinion is that the box is from the 19th century and the part with the Shabbos table was made even later. We were unable to determine which of these expert opinions is correct.
