On the margins of the title page, a handwritten dedication by the author, Rabbi Yisrael Nachman Drohobycher. The cutting of the leaf has damaged part of the first line of the dedication and the end of the words on the left side. The dedication was written in Safed. After the publishing of his book in 1804 in Livorno, when he was on his way to the Land of Israel, the author sent his book to a wealthy man named Getz.
Rabbi Yisrael Nachman Drohobycher (1745-1825) was born in Stanislav to his father Rabbi Yosef Drohobycher, who was a disciple of the Ba'al Shem Tov and one of his first Hassidim in Drohobych. He was named after the Ba'al Shem Tov. He studied with Rabbi Yosef Bloch, author of "Ginzei Yosef". He was a Dayan in Ostrow and Rosh Av Beit Din of Shimanda-Hungary. He also served as head of yeshiva in Grosswardein. In 1804, he immigrated to the Land of Israel, passing through Livorno to print his book. He lived in Safed, yet used to travel to various communities to sell his books – "Pekudat Ha'Melech" Livorno 1804, "Yikra De'Chaim" Salonika 1813, "She'erit Yisrael", "Emet Le'Ya'akov", "Chemdat Yisrael" on the book of Kohelet.
