Sukkat Shalom - Kabbala and Tikunim Book by the Rebbe Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher of Greiditz - Jerusalem, 1883 - The First Book Printed by the Hirschensohn Printing Press- Includes "Igeret Ha'Kodesh", on the Land of Israel as the Religious Center of the Jews of the World - Includes a Rare, Bibliographically Unknown Leaf
Sukkat Shalom - a kabbalist composition by the Divine kabbalist Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher (1796-1874), one of the first Chovevei Zion who acted for the revival of the Jewish nation on its land and president of the "Sukkat Shalom-Shnot Eliyahu" Yeshiva, who was known as a holy miracle-maker.
The book includes Tikunim, prayers and novellae.
At the end of the book, "Igeret Ha'Kodesh" by the author was printed, in which he presents his wonderful plan to settle the Land of Israel and turn it into a spiritual center for all Jews of the world - the basis of his spiritual doctrine.
A special, important book. First edition. S. Ha'Levi, Sifrei Yerushalayim Ha'Rishonim 429.
This is the first book printed by the well-known printing press of Rabbi Yitzchak Hirschensohn.
In the copy before us, after the title page, an additional leaf was printed, which does not exist in most copies: a printed leaf of dedication by Rabbi Chaim Hirschensohn.

Ateret Zkenim - the first composition of Rabbi Chaim Hirschensohn
Rabbi Eliyahu wrote the book "Sukkat Shalom" in 1854.
Rabbi Chaim Hirschensohn wrote a commentary on the book titled "Ateret Zkenim". Rabbi Chaim Hirschensohn was known as one of the young geniuses of Jerusalem. In time, he served as a rabbi in the USA (of the city of Hoboken, New Jersey).

A book in honor of the "Sukkat Shalom" company
The composition before us, explicitly refers to the "Sukkat Shalom" company established by Rabbi Eliyahu in Greiditz. Actually this company is the one which stands at the base of the composition. Thus, we find at the beginning of the long "friendly letter" written by Rabbi Meir Shalom of Bransk and was printed at the beginning of the book: "… this letter will be an introduction to the book, which was written in honor of the Sukkat Shalom company…".

Igeret Ha'Kodesh
At the end of the book (leaf 198), "Igeret Ha'Kodesh" was printed - an exceptional missive by Rabbi Eliyahu, about the spiritual state of the Jewish nation, when "the light of Torah is daily being extinguished", and the ways to improve it. The missive is signed also by Rabbi Ya'akov Etlinger. The content of the missive: "how to improve the prestige of the Torah, of the Jewish people and of our Holy Land".

The first book printed by the Hirschensohn printing press
On the title page it is written that the book was printed by "the high-quality printing press of Rabbi Yitzchak Hirshcensohn". The Hirschensohn family bought the printing press from the printer Reb Nissan Bak.
Reb Nissan sold the printing press to Rabbi Ya'akov Mordechai Hirschensohn and his son Reb Yitzchak with all the tools needed for its operation so that actually, this printing house is a continuation of the printing house of Yisrael Bak, whose son, Nissan, had inherited.
