Bibliography researches note that this was an edition with a hundred exemplars only (Mehlman, Friedberg, Rosenfeld, S. Ha'Levi 170).
At the beginning of the book. A "preface" by the author, listing the rabbis of Egypt beginning with Maimonides and ending with the author's father (Rabbi Eliyahu Ben Yitachak) who died in 1866. On leaf 14 until the end of the book, novellae from 1820.
The author, Rabbi Yom Tov Cherezli Yisrael (1820- 1891) was born in Jerusalem and travelled to Egypt with his father. After the death of his father, he replaced him as Rosh Av Beit Din of Cairo. He was also the leader of the community seen he was knowledgeable in the laws of the country. In his old age, he returned to Jerusalem.
