Seder Ta’aniyot - Prayers and elegies for the four fast days, according to the Sephardi custom. Amsterdam, 1771. The haphtarah for Tisha B’Av appears with a Portuguese translation, for Spanish marranos who emigrated to Amsterdam.

On the first two leaves are the elegies “Yom Ze Kahalti Misped Higdili” and “Al Naharot Bavel Eretz Shivyeinu” by “Chapes” - the literary name of Rabbi David Franco Mendes, one of the Spanish scholars in Amsterdam and one of the heads of the “Etz Chaim” study hall.

On page 128 is a confirmatory signature in the handwriting of the cantor Yaakov di Silua Mendes, the book’s publisher, who was one of the leaders of the Portuguese community of Amsterdam.
