Kol David, by Rabbi David Ha'Cohen of Trieste. Venice, 1880. First edition. Yonah Ha'Cohen and Sons printing press.
An important, interesting book, of great value for the history of the Jewish community of Italy.
It is most likely that the book was printed in a limited edition. It had never been printed again, not even in a facsimile edition. Rare.
The book has four sections: greeting letters for the author's son and daughter for their Bar and Bat Mitzvah; "Kol Sasson" - poems (most of them in honor of people and events); "Machanayim" - a play about religion and observing the commandments; "Avnei Zikaron" - gravestones.
Each section has a separate title page.
The book was printed in honor of the Bar Mitzvah celebration of the author's son, Klonimus Matitya.
The third section of the book, "Machanayim", was written in 1874. This section, 12 pp. contains a fascinating literary play by the author about "Ol Mitzvot". The play was for youth and it describes the sweetness of God worship, which is true freedom. Between the lines, one can read about the spiritual and material situation of the Jews in that period.
Unique, impressive format.

80 pp. 23 cm.
Condition: Very Good. The binding is slightly loose.
