Darkhei Noam - Responsa from Rabbi Mordechai HaLevi, the Rabbi of Egypt, on the four parts of the Shulchan Aruch. Venice, 1697. Single edition. Printing press of the brothers Vincenzo and Alvise Bragadin.
At the end of the book is the booklet “Milchemet Mitzva” (with a special architectural title page) by the author’s son, Rabbi Avraham HaLevi, about the great polemic between him and the sages of the Land of Israel and Salonika, headed by Maharam ben Chaviv, regarding the time of circumcision for one born on twilight on Friday. The booklet caused a great furor.

Rabbi Mordechai HaLevi (1600 - 1684) was Rabbi of Egypt. His son, Rabbi Avraham (1650-1704) succeeded him. The work before us was printed in his lifetime.

A special copy!
In the book are two important maps: On the rear side of the first title page is a map “Tzurat HaBayit”. A special leaf was added at the end of the book with a map called “The form of the Temple in Yechezkel’s prophecy” - this map is not listed and is not found in the known copies!
Each map is over a full page.

Ancient scholarly inscription on the endpaper in Yemenite handwriting.

282, 42 [1] leaves. 29 cm.
Condition: Very Good. Ancient original leather binding, blemished. Slight tear in the corner of the title page with no lack.
