Ancient atlas. Petit Atlas De Toutes Les Parties Du Monde. Paris, 1811. First, rare edition
Ancient atlas with 21 original, geographic maps [numbered] of the entire world dated between 1809-1810 [on the body of the map], published by Chez Henri Tardieu, Libraire Paris..
The maps were handpainted at the time they were printed and were folded into the atlas. The maps include different areas: Double map of the entire globe [on both sides]; Northern Europe; Southern Europe; Russia; Denmark; Portugal; Norway; France; Holland; Italy; Central Europe; the oceans; Asia; Africa; and America. About half of the maps were created by noted engraver, J.B. Poirson.
A later edition of a similar atlas is known to have been printed in 1821. That atlas is found in various libraries, however, this edition is very rare and not listed by WorldCat and is not located in libraries worldwide.
Various sized maps: The large map of the globe: 30x40 cm. The average size of the other maps are 22x26 cm.
Old cloth binding. Aging stains. Very fine condition.
