Mishloach Manot Ish L'Re'eihu - An Etched Brass Plaque. Made by Bezalel Jerusalem. Beginning of the 20th Century
An etched brass plaque attached to a wooden circle, early product of Bezalel (1920's). The work before us is typical of the works done in Bezalel's etching department which was opened in 1912.
In the center of the plaque are two Jews in traditional Yerushalmi dress exchanging Mishloach Manot. At the bottom is written: "Mishloach Manot Ish L'Re'eihu Bezalel Jerusalem". The city's buildings are seen in the background. The etching was done with a technique combining repousse and etching through use of stencils. The plaque before us appears in the catalog - Bezalel Shel Schatz, a list of items in the exhibition, page 51, item 595.
Dimensions: Diameter of the brass plaque: 7 cm. Diameter of the wood: 9 cm. Thickness of the wood: 2 cm. On the back is a hook for hanging.
Very fine condition.
