Sharp letter from a member of the first Knesset, Shlomo Beck, to the head supervisor on behalf of Agudat Yisrael, Dr. Avraham Deutsch
[2] typewritten leaves, signed by Knesset Member Shlomo Beck. 21x 34 cm.
The letter was sent on 25/3/1951 to Dr. Avraham Deutsch who, at the time, was the chief supervisor of the Agudat Yisrael. In the letter, the Knesset Member begs him to leave his public position. He claims, that Rabbi Deusch isn't worthy of holding the position since he betrayed the Jewish settlement by fleeing to Hungary in 1946, though he had been in the country since 1944.
The letter is full of sharp, harsh expressions.
Rabbi Avraham Deutsch, the letter's addressee, served as principal of the elementary school in Budapest. In 1944, he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael and served as a member of the first Knesset. He passed away in 1953.
This is a stencil copy of the letter that bears the signature of Shlomo Beck in its margins. In addition, this lot includes the original envelope in which the letter was sent to Mr. Avraham Deutsch.
Fine condition.
