Invitation to an Urgent Meeting at the Chief Rabbinate - Signature of 15 of the Leading Sephardic Rabbis - Jerusalem, 1924
Official letter by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel in Jerusalem with a list of rabbis who are "invited to the required meeting which will take place at the hall of the Chief Rabbinate on Sunday the 13th of Sivan at two o'clock in the afternoon". Signed by the secretary, Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Weber.
The leaf contains a list of eighteen rabbis with the signature of that rabbi confirming his participation in the meeting. Fifteen rabbis confirmed by hand-signing their name on the letter.

The signatory rabbis in the order they appear in the letter:
Rabbi David Pappo (1848-1927), Chief Rabbi of Bagdad, Tripoli and Monastir. Immigrated to the Land of Israel and served as Rosh Av Beit Din in Jerusalem. His compositions: "Bnei Meir" - Derashot, "Pnei David" - responsa.
Rabbi Raphael Ha'Cohen Shako (died in 1929) one of the rabbis of the Land of Israel, Shadar ofJerusalem. Member of the Beit Din of Rabbi Vidal Chanoch Angel. His manuscripts and glosses on books are in the archives of the "Porat Yosef" Yeshiva.
Rabbi Nachman Angel (died in 1927) one of the most prominent rabbis and Darshanim of Jerusalem. One of the Mechavnim of the "Beit El" kabbalist yeshiva. His book "Drushim U'Ferushim" was published in 1977.
Rabbi Raphael Yisrael Cherezli (1853-1926), one of the rabbis of Jerusalem, one of the founders and Gabai of the "Misgav La'Dach" Hospital. The son-in-law of Rabbu Yosef Mordechai Meyuchas. Friend of the kabbalist Rabbi Yitzchak Alafya.
Rabbi Vidal Eliyahu Soranga, one of the rabbis of Jerusalem. Born in 1872 in Jerusalem. Served as a member of the Beit Din of Rabbi Ya'akov Shimon Matalon. After his death, he joined the Beit Din of Rabbi Moshe Tagir together with Rabbi Yitzchal Leveton.
Rabbi Chanaya Gabriel (1875-1954), a well-known genius, Rosh Av Beit Din of the Sephardim of Jerusalem. The son of Rabbi Gabriel Shabtai. Was one of the founders of the Sephardic orphanage of Jerusalem. Since 1905, a member of the Beit Din of Rabbi David Pappo. Since 1925, Chief Rabbi and Av Beit Din of Cairo, Egypt. Authored, among others: "Minchat ha'Chag", "Shalmei Ha'Chag" and more.
Rabbi Yosef Ha'Levi was born in 1878. Studied with the Rishon Le'Zion Rabbi Ya'akov Shaul Elyashar, the "Yisa Beracha". When he was 25, he started publishing Torah novellae and responsa in "Ha'Me'asef" journal. In 1918, he was chosen as a member of the Rabbis Committee headed by the Rishon Le'Zion Rabbi Chaim Moshe Elyashar. Was a representative at the first Elected Assembly of the State of Israel
Rabbi Binyamin Levi, one of the rabbis and Dayanim of Jerusalem. The brother of Rabbi Yosef Ha'Levi (both are the sons of Rabbi Asher Avraham Ha'Levi, one of the most prominent Sephardic Dayanim of Jerusalem. Died in 1885).
Rabbi Mordechai Meyuchas, head of the slaughterers of Jerusalem. Was known for his expertise in Shechita and its laws. A member of the Beit Din of Rabbi Shmuel Nissim and that of Rabbi Ko'inka. In 1946, he became Rosh Av Beit Din of Jerusalem. His novellae on the laws of Shechita were printed in the book "U'Shechatetem Ba'Zeh".
Rabbi Avraham Aminoff (1854-1939), one of the rabbis of Bukhara who immigrated to Jerusalem. Made many efforts so that the Torah will not be forgotten from the Jewish nation. Founded a Talmud Torah in Jerusalem where he taught for dozens of years together with Rabbi Raphael Shlomo Laniado and Rabbi Ezra Atiyya. Authored the popular book "Likutei Dinim" six sections and translated it into Bukhori.
Rabbi Shalom Alsheich (185901944), immigrated to Jerusalem in 1889. Chief Rabbi and Rosh Av Beit Din of the Yemen community of Jerusalem. One of the kabbalists of the "Beit El" Yeshiva. Was one of the founders of the "Rechovot Ha'Nahar" Yeshiva. In 1904, founded the "Shivat Zion" Company for purchasing land in the area of Nebi Samuel. Authored the book "Dover Shalom" - kabbalist commentary on the Torah, Piyutim and prayers.
Rabbi Avraham Chaim Nadaf (1866-1940). Already as a young boy of 14, he wrote responsa and halachic novellae. In 1890, he immigrated to the Land of Israel and served as the leader of the Yemen community of Jerusalem. He founded Talmudei Torah and yeshivas. Head of the "Torat Moshe" Yeshiva. Dayan at the Beit Din with Rabbi Shalom Alsheich. Was the first to publish a bibliography of the compositions of the rabbis of Yemen.
Rabbi Shimon Ashriki (died in 1930), was known as a great prodigy. The disciple of Rabbi Shlomo Bohbot of Morocco. Served as a Dayan at the Beit Din of Jerusalem with two of the most prominent rabbis - Rabbi Eliyahu Lagimi and Rabbi Ya'akov Ben Atar. The Baba Sali loved him and learned from him the customs of the Beit Din and ways of ruling.
Rabbi Shalom Hedaya (1864-1945), one of the most prominent rabbis of Jerusalem, the eldest of the kabbalist of the "Beit El" Yeshiva and Rosh Av Beit Din of the Sephardic community of Jerusalem. He remembered by heart the writings of the Ari. The father of the kabbalist Rabbi Ovadya Hedaya. Since 1936, corresponded on kabbala with rabbi Elchanan Wasserman. His composition "Shalom L'Am" was printed in Aleppo in 1896. His halachic responses were printed in the book "Ve'Dover Shalom" as well as in the books "Ro'ei Yisrael", "Sha'arei Rachamim", "Torah Mi'Zion", "Ha'Me'asef" and more.
Rabbi Shlomo Laniado (1876-1925), a kabbalist genius. With the foundation of the "Porat Yosef" Yeshiva in 1925, he was asked to be its head with Rabbi Ezra Attiya. His disciples became prominent rabbis. At the same time, he was also a member of the Beit Din of his rabbi, Rabbi Yosef David Ha'Levi, together with the rabbi of his rabbi, the kabbalist Rabbi Avraham Ades. He died suddenly at the age of 49 years old. His novellae was printed in the book "Ateret Shlomo".

Rare, unique item. It is rare to find a document with so many signatures of the leading Sephardic rabbis of the period. Especially rare is the signature of Rabbi Raphael Shlomo Laniado, who died young, and most of his manuscripts were destroyed in a fire at the "Porat Yosef" Yeshiva during the War of Independence.
