Manuscript - several chapters of the laws of Shechita and Trefot, acronyms and gematriya for the laws of Shechita and Bedika, Likutim, tales of rabbis and riddles. Some of the Likutim as heard from various rabbis "I have heard from Rabbi Avraham ben Chananya that an even occurred in Salonika…" (Rabbi Avraham ben Chananya was one of the rabbis of Constantinople and Salonika, author of the "Beit Avraham" responsa).

The manuscript is the teachings of Rabbi Aharon Tawil, one of the rabbis of Gaza and later of Rashid in Egypt.
The manuscript before us is a copy from a manuscript by Rabbi Aharon Tawil by his disciple, Rabbi Shmuel ben rabbi Moshe Castil, who settled in Na Amun, which is near Rashid.

Various colophons and inscriptions: on leaf 108 a title page with an illustrated frame: "This book of Dinei Shechita I have found in the possession of my teacher and rabbi … Rabbi Aharon Tawil in the city of Rashid … and I have copied it here in Na Amun … I Shmuel ben Rabbi Moshe Castil 5478 to the creation".
There is a colophon at the end of one of the chapters and an additional inscription in different ink with the curly signature of Rabbi Shmuel Castil.

A colophon at the end of the manuscript: "the work has been completed on Friday the 26th day of Tishrei … here in Na Amun …. May it be God's will that as I have copied this book, we shall be able to copy many more books…"

On the last leaf an inscription by "Shalom Castil" - most likely the son of Rabbi Shmuel Castil. The inscription is from 1776: "May God give me male sons …" Under this inscription, an additional inscription from 1787: "a son has been born to me and I have named him Yissachar Mordechai…" on the reverse side of this leaf, two Segulot of holy names for an easy birth are written.

The National Library has a manuscript by Rabbi Shmuel Castil on Song of Songs with an Aramaic and Arabic translation which he had copied in Gaza in 1715.
