Der Giber in Tiger - Shota Rustaveli - Yiddish Translation of the National Epos of the Distinguished Georgian Poet - 1937
Published by "the State Publishing House for National Minorities of the USSR", Kiev. Yiddish.
This poem is the only remnant of the literary work of the greatest Georgian poet, Shota Rustaveli. It was written while he was in exile in the Monastery of the Cross in Jerusalem. Moshe Ibn Ezra and several other early Jewish poets are mentioned. The fact that the poem was translated into Yiddish indicates its significance.
On the first leaf of the book, an engraved portrait of the poet. The binding is decorated with a relief of the poet at its center.
