26 Cards of Beautiful Photographs of the Land of Israel – Leo Kahn, Judische Zeitung – Vienna, 1912 – Lovely Item! Rare!
In 1912, the Zionist journal "Judische Zeitung " sent a young and promising student named Leo Kahn to the Land of Israel in order to tour the country and take pictures of historical sites and the new Jewish settlement.
The result was amazing: beautiful photographs of the country.
The photographs were printed on cards by Max Yoffe in Vienna. The readers of the journal purchased and collected these cards.
We know of 200 such cards – 35 of them at Yad Ben Zvi.
Before us are 26 cards with photographs of Jaffa, Safed, Meiron, Hebron, Jerusalem, Ben Shemen, Atlit, Mishmar Ha'Yarden the Yarmuch River, Mount Hermon and more.
