A Halachic Responsa from Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Oppenheim Av Beit Din of Temesvar - Sent to Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ullman the "Yeriot Shlomo"
A long halachic responsa in the handwriting and with the signature of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Oppenheim, to Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ullman, author of the "Yeriot Shlomo". The responsa deals with laws of testimony and Agunot which he was asked about by the "Yeriot Shlomo", as well as with a question which he dealt with, amongst other things, about genetic disease as a reason to coerce a Get. In both of these topics he quotes the opinion of the "Noda B'Yehuda" and discusses it. He ends with the sentence: "We are commanded to have mercy on the honor of Torah scholars who are suffering, and on the honor of its students that they should not be lenient, its ways are pleasant, as the "Noda B'Yehuda" wrote in several places".
The date on which the letter was written is erased. Written on an airmail letter. On the back of the leaf is an addition in the handwriting of the letter's recipient, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ullman, a recommendation for "Rabbi Mordechai Frankel", in which he writes: "…and his daughter has also grown up and is ready to be married…and I request from our brothers Jews who do good to the good - please hurry to be one who assists him".
