Letter by Rabbi Yosef Aryeh Nendik, the Mashgi'ach of the "Sha'ar Ha'Torah" Yeshiva in Grodno
Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Yosef Aryeh Nendik, the Mashgi'ach of the "Sha'ar Ha'Torah" Yeshiva in Grodno. 1930.
The letter is addressed to the rabbis and managers of the "Knesset Yisrael" Yeshiva in Slobodka. Rabbi Nendik inquires as to the health and situation of the yeshiva students "whom I have known ever since I had been with you" and asks "how will the yeshiva succeed now that our friend Rabbi Yerucham Leibowitz has joined it". Then he adds several lines of recommendation on Rabbi Aharon Milevsky "whom you will surely accept". He signs: "Yosef Aryeh Nendik a manager at the "Sha'ar Ha'Torah" Yeshiva".
Rabbi Yosef Aryeh Nendik served as a Mashgi'ach of the "Sha'ar Ha'Torah" Yeshiva in Grodno. He founded the Yeshiva and brought Rabbi Shimon Shkop to serve as its head. Later, he served as a Mashgi'ach at the "Etz Chaim" Yeshiva in Kleck. He died during the Holocaust.
Extremely rare item. It is most likely that until now, none of his letters have been seen in auctions.
