Letters by Rabbi Gershon Stern the Author of "Yalkut He'Gershoni" - Request for help for His Son who Immigrated to the Land of Israel
Two postcards, in Hebrew and Romanian, by Rabbi Gershon Stern (1891-1936), one of the most prominent rabbis of Hungary, the rabbi of Ludas. His books "Yalkut Ha'Gershoni" was most popular in the world of the Torah.
A. A postcard he sent from his hometown Ludas in Romania in which he asks for help for his son, who had immigrated to the land of Israel. 1928.
"In face of the honorable … Dr. Eichenberg, may he have mercy on a father begging for his son … Yechiel Stern who immigrated to the Land of Israel and is living in Petach Tikvah … to arrange work for him in the orange and banana orchard which Mr. Moitner of Budapest has brought…"
Dr. Eichenberg was most likely in charge of agricultural jobs in the vicinity of Petach Tikvah.
B. A postcard in a foreign language, with his official stamp, to Mr. Roger. 1916.
The letter opens with the words "aus der enge rufe ich" (out of my distress I have called) then he asks the addressee's help with a certain matter.
