Important Document of the Hebron Yeshiva about the Construction of the New Building in Jerusalem - Handwritten Addendum by Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein - 1930
An agreement between the Hebron Yeshiva "Knesset Yisrael" in Jerusalem and the philanthropist Pasha Levey, who donated a significant amount to the construction of a new building for the yeshiva in Jerusalem. The yeshiva had moved to Jerusalem after the 1929 Palestine Riots and the destruction of the building of the yeshiva in Hebron. Typewritten on the official stationery of the Yeshiva.
The document details the rights of the philanthropist. Among others: "she has a right in the middle third of the upper story, where the Holy Ark stands".
The document is from 19.2.1930. It is signed by the two heads of the yeshiva - Rabbi Yechezkel Serena and Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein - as well as by the director, Rabbi Akiva Kirschtein. Signature of the philanthropist. An addition of two lines in the handwriting of Rabbi Epstein. His signature and stamp.
