Document in the Handwriting of Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld - Signatures of Rabbi Shmuel Salant, Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld and Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Baharan
Letter from the Beit Din of Jerusalem containing the testimony of Reb Reuben Yisrael Rabinowitz regarding Reb Eliezer of Bialystok, a Kotzk Hassid, who died on his way to Hebron on a snowy winter day. The letter contains information required for permitting the deceased's wife to remarry. Winter, 1893.
The document is handwritten by Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld.
At the margins of the letter, the signatures of Rabbi Shmuel Salant, the rabbi and leader of the Ashkenaztic community of Jerusalem for more than forty years, of Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, the first rabbi of Ha'Edah Ha'Haredit of Jerusalem and of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Baharn Levi, one of the geniuses of Jerusalem.
Extremely rare. We do not know of an additional document that is signed both by Rabbi Shmuel Salant and by Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld.
A leaf written on one of its sides. 23 cm.
Condition: Excellent.
