Babylonian Talmud Gittin Tractate - Frankfurt, 1720 - Signature of Rabbi Menachem Auerbach Av Beit Din of Ostrow - Important Signatures and Handwritten Novellae
Babylonian Talmud tractate Gittin, Frankfurt, 1720. Important edition in which the commentators on the Talmud were printed in an edited and precise manner.
At the beginning of the book is the signature of Rabbi Menachem Auerbach, Av Beit Din and Rosh Yeshiva of Ostrow: "The small one Menachem BLAAM"I…the famous…". His son's inscription testifies that the book belonged to his father. At the end of the book is a similar inscription written by Rabbi Yaakov son of Rabbi Zev Wolf Helperin. An additional similar inscription from his student Rabbi Avraham Segal: "I currently learn from the aforementioned Av Beit Din". Similar inscriptions of additional students. The signature of his son Rabbi Yaakov Auerbach.
At the end of the book is the signature of Rabbi "Yoel of Poznan" (perhaps he is Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Lifshitz's grandfather, author of the "Chemdat Shlomo"). Scholarly Torah novaelle in the handwriting of Rabbi "Leib Levensohn". Additional ancient signatures which are unidentified.
Rabbi Menachem Auerbach, one of the great Rabbis of his generation, Av Beit Din and Rosh Yeshiva of Ostrow. Wrote a large introduction to the book "Divrei Mishpat" on Choshen Mishpat, which was printed in the city of Krotoszyn in the year 1935 from the teachings of his father Rabbi Chaim Auerbach, Av Beit Din and Rabbi of Luntschitz. The father-in-law and uncle of Rabbi Meir Auerbach, Av Beit Din of Kalish and later Av Beit Din of Jerusalem, author of the book "Imrei Binah".
