A letter signed by Rabbi Yisrael of Shklov and the rest of the great students of the Vilna Gaon in the Old Yishuv. Given to the emissary Zvi Hirsch son of Rabbi Yehuda in order to collect donations for the Old Yishuv of Jerusalem and Safed. Signed Wednesday, 15 Kislev 1830.
[1] high quality paper leaf, 16.5*23cm. Pleasant and cramped handwriting, empty space to fill out the name of the donor, signs in pencil, many signatures.
The letter was written in preparation for the journey of the emissary Rabbi Zvi Hirsch son of Rabbi Yehuda abroad, in order to collect money for the Torah scholars of the Old Yishuv. The letter details the great level of those who learn Torah and the importance of those who live in the Holy Land "A pure group who toil in Torah which was founded by the students of Rabbi Eliyahu, the genius of geniuses, our great and holy teacher, the Rabbi of all of the Diaspora, Rabbi Eliyahu".
The signees are (in this order): *Rabbi Chaim Cohen, Av Beit Din of Pinsk. *Rabbi Yisrael of Shklov, one of the greatest students of the Vilna Gaon. *Rabbi Natan Neta son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Shklov. *Rabbi Aryeh Leib son of Yosef Lion. *Rabbi Natan Neta son of Rabbi Sa'adya who was the Rabbi of the Vilna Gaon's students in Jerusalem. *Zvi Hirsch from the Holy City of Jerusalem. *Rabbi Shlomo Zalman son of Rabbi Wolf HaCohen. *Rabbi Aryeh (Leib) son of Yerachmiel, responsible for the Kollel HaPerushim of Jerusalem.
