173 pages. 20 cm. Missing the title page and concluding indexes.
First edition of Shu"t HaRan,  includes all 77 responses. 33 lines on each page. Each tenth line is marked with a Hebrew letter. Page 3 bears the signature of Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Algazi.Especially rare work. The endpaper bears a notation by collector Yisrael Mehlman [in Hebrew], "very uncommon."
Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Algazi was the Chacham Bashi and Rishon L'Tzion. He was born in Izmir in 1680 and was a prominent Izmir and Jerusalem sage. He immigrated to Jerusalem in 1739 and served as Rishon L'Tzion in his later years. He was the rabbi of the Chida, who often quotes him in his work. He authored many works, including: Kehillot Yaakov, Shu"t Mahar"i Algazi, Emet L'Yaakov, Shalmei Tzibur, Shalmei Chagigah, and more.
Simple binding. A few worming holes. Aging stains. Marginal tears and loss in the first and last leaves, affecting solitary letters. Moderate condition.
