ROKEACH, R. YEHUDA ZINDEL/BELZ. SELICHOS. ZOLKIEW 1809

Selichos for the days preceding Rosh Hashanah and
Yom Kippur as well as some Selichos to be recited
on Yom Kippur. Based on the earlier Amsterdam
editions.
On the final leaf there is handwritten note from
that era stating “Although it is forbidden to write
on seforim; however, as an identification sign it is
permitted. Belonging to R. Zindel son of the Tzaddik
of Belz”.
R. Yehuda Zindel Rokeach (1821-1871) was a
son of the Sar Sholom of Belz. Primarily a student
of his father, he served as a Rebbe in Uchan near
Lublin where he built a large Beis Ha’Midrash,
following the passing of his father in 1855. He was
arrested by the Russian authorities, however after
the efforts of his Chasidim he was soon released.
Vinograd Zolkiew 737. Fair condition, well used with
many wax stains and other markings. Some worming
affecting text. Worn binding. 22cm.
Early Selichos belonging to one the great Chasidic
masters.
