Le'Toldot Ha'Mischar Be'Sifrei Kodesh (The History of Trading in Religious Books) - The Widow and Brothers Romm Printing Press and Bookshop in Vilnius - Rare Handwritten Information
15 page booklet in nice, orderly handwriting about the history of the book-trade and printing press of the Botohers Romm in Vilnius. A long commercial letter by the bookseller Rabbi Shmuel Shimon son of Rabbi Aharon of Shklow to the agent of the Brothers Romm, Rabbi Harkavi (his first name is not mentioned by the letter). 1864.
In a long letter, in nice, orderly handwriting, Rabbi Shmuel Shimon of Shklow pours out his heart to the person who was responsible for marketing the printed products of the Widow and Brothers Romm, Rabbi Harkavy. In the 15 pages of the letter, he describes the trouble he has encountered since new, respectable printing presses had started operating, printing presses that market products similar to those of the Brothers Romm in Vilnius. He subtly presents the many mistakes of the marketing and sale of the Romm books in Vilnius.
On the title page, a handwritten inscription: "from the collection of the [member] Pikovsky of Kishinev".
15 pp in nice, orderly handwriting. Important information about book trade in the Jewish world of those days.
Condition: Very Good.
