A Rare Document - Instruction to Carry Out the Rotation Agreement - Signatures of the "Pnei Menachem", Rabbi Shlomo Berman and the Rebbe of Erlau - November 1972
A rare document in which three of the leaders of the generation instruct the leaders of Agudat Yisrael to carry out the rotation agreement between M.K Rabbi Shlomo Yaakov Gross and Rabbi Yaakov Mizrachi. The fourth year of the seventh Knesset. With the signatures of the Gerrer Rebbe Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Alter, author of the "Pnei Menachem"; the Rosh Yeshiva of the Ponovezh Yeshiva Rabbi Shlomo Berman; and Rabbi Yochanan Sopher the Rebbe of Erlau (enclosed is a letter in his handwriting in which he expresses admiration and thanks to the members of the Agudat Yisrael Party, April 1978).
In the document are a number of necessary conditions: Rabbi Shlomo Yaakov Gross's resignation from the Seventh Knesset is solely to fulfill his personal commitment from three years previously…it does not come to change the existing situation in the Knesset list of Agudat Yisrael and does not provide anyone with any rights which are caused by this resignation…also it was decided that there is no claim of Chazaka on any position in the Knesset at the time of assembling the list…
It should be noted, that this is one of the few rotation agreements which managed to be put into practice…
