A Letter in the Handwriting of Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Leibowitz the Rosh Yeshiva of Ponovezh - Jerusalem, 1999 - Interesting Content
A letter from Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Leibowitz, Rosh Yeshiva of Ponovezh, together with a letter from Rabbi Yaakov Eliezer Schwartzman, Rosh Yeshiva of Lakewood in Jerusalem, and a letter of Rabbi Menachem Porush, head of Agudat Yisrael.
a. A letter on official letter paper of the Kamenitz Yeshiva by Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Leibowitz, in his handwriting and with his signature. Rabbi Leibowitz writes to the Chinuch Ha'Atzmai with regards to his daughter, Mrs Rivka Schwartzman (1975-2016), "who works for you in teaching…and she still has only 10 hours, therefore I repeat my request to grant her a full time position…and it is puzzling to me why the aforementioned hours are not added to her, my daughter is also the granddaughter of Rabbi Aharon Kotler, and it is well known how much he sacrificed himself and his Torah for the Chinuch Atzmai, so much so that it was said about him that this entire institution exists in his merit, in my humble opinion his granddaughter has more merits in this institution…".
b. A letter from his in-law, Rabbi Yaakov Eliezer Schwartzman, the Rosh Yeshiva of Lakewood in Jerusalem: "…my daughter in law has already worked as a teacher in the Chinuch Ha'Atzmai for five years, and has been incredibly successful, as the principal of the school and all of her students, who have stayed connected to her with great fondness will tell…there is no doubt that she deserves this, both because of her talents and because of the merits of her fathers and her husband's fathers, who were those who enlightened the Jewish people, great ones of Torah who lightened up our eyes with the light of their Torah and their fear [of Heaven] until this very day, and in particular in the merit of my father and teacher our great teacher Rabbi Aharon Kotler…and even more than this he sacrificed himself for the establishment and the day-to-day survival of the Chinuch Atzmai, in the aspect of Did I conceive this entire people, did I give birth to them…to remember the covenant of the early ones and the days of the world, and to take the correct and fitting step, to give their granddaughter the merit of following in their footsteps and to influence from her spirit which absorbs from their great and holy spirit in a complete and honorable way…".
c. A letter of the head of Agudat Yisrael Rabbi Menachem Porush, who notes that "Rabbi Schwartzman's letter is touching, each and every sentence expresses the exalted status of Rabbi Aharon Kotler…".
