Handwriting and Signature of the Rebbe of Pápa - 1974
Photocopy of a document written on the official stationery of the rabbi of Ha'Eda Ha'Haredit of Jerusalem, Rabbi Yitzchak Ya'akov Weiss, requesting the assistance of the open-hearted for Rabbi David Eichler. On the margins of the document, Rabbi Yosef Greenwald, the Rebbe of Pápa added about four handwritten lines and his signature.
The Rebbe of Pápa wrote: "I join the above request, to ask our brothers to support Rabbi David Eichler, who is one of the worthy citizens of Jerusalem, a Talmud Chacham whose Torah study is his artistry (Torato Omanuto) and has many expenses marrying his daughter, which is known to cost a fortune, and anyone who supports him will be blessed by abundance, blessings and success, 29th to Sefirat Ha'Omer 1974. Yosef Greenwald".
Rabbi Yosef Greenwald (1905-1984) served as head of "Keren le'David" Yeshiva in Satmar and was the last rabbi of Pápa, Hungary. After the Holocaust, he was appointed the Rebbe of Pápa, the rabbi of the community and the head of its Yeshiva in Brooklyn, New York.
Rabbi David Eichler served as chairman of Ha'Eda Ha'Haredit.
