A letter in the handwriting and with the signature of Rabbi Pinchas Epstein to his friend Rabbi Yisrael Porath. The letter deals with family and communal matters.
Rabbi Pinchas Epstein (died in 1970), a tremendous genius and important halachic ruler, stood at the head of the Beit Din of the Eida HaChareidit in Jerusalem from 1948 until his death. He established and based the kashrut framework of the Bedatz Eidah Chareidit.
Rabbi Yisrael Porath (1886-1974), a Jerusalemite Torah scholar, one of the great principal students of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook, served for approximately 50 years as the central Rabbi of Cleveland, Ohio.
