Mikra'ot Gedolot. Fifth part - Tehilim and Mishlei. Grodno and Vilnius, 1820. Important edition. Two title pages. On the second title page there is a list of the virtues of this edition. The title pages are in black and red ink.
Before us is a Book of Psalms from which the greatest rabbis had prayed!
The book belonged to Rebbetzen Freidel Numberg. After her death, her grandson, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Numberg, one of the rabbis of Lodz, inherited the book.
In the book before us there are signatures of "Freidel" - the Rebbetzen Freidel, daughter of Rabbi Meir Pozner, the author of "Beit Meir", who married Rabbi Yehuda Leib Numberg, Av Beit Din of Danzig. Th eRebbetzen died in 1829.
There are also signatures of "Yechezkel", most likely in the handwriting of her son, Rabbi Yechezkel Numberg, Av Beit Din of Lodz (since 1832).
Rabbi Yechezkel became close to Hassidism and used to travel to the Rabbi of Przysucha and to Tomaszów and Kock. He was considered one of the greatest disciples of the Saraf of Kock. At a young age he was chosen as the rabbi of Lodz and served as Av Beit Din there until his death in 1855. Due to his modesty, he lived in the attic of Beit Ha'Kehila while his family lived in a spacious apartment downstairs. He used to study Tirah day and night and used to prolong his prayer according to the custom of the Kock Hassidim.
Ownership inscriptions and signatures indicating that the book belonged also to the grandchild, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Numberg, the son of Rabbi Yechezkel.
(You can read about the rabbis of the Numberg family in the chapter "Geza Ha'Yichus in the book "Omer Man" by Rabbi Meir Numberg).
Additional signatures:" Heinich", it should be noted that the Rebbe of Alexander, the second Rebbe of Gur, Rabbi Chanoch Heinich Ha'Cohen Levin was the brothr-in-law and close friend of Rabbi Yechezkel Numberg. Additional signature: "Yitzchak Meir". Additional ownership inscriptions and signatures.
Condition: Good-Very Good. Non-original cover. Few moth holes on single pages. Slight wear to the edges of the first pages.
