"The Voice of G-d Carves With Shafts of Fire" – a Declaration Rrom the Belzer Rebbe on Matters of Modesty – Lodz 1923 – Extremely Rare
"The voice of G-d carves with shafts of fire from the Rabbi the Genius the holy man of G-d, the teacher of all of the exiles Rebbe Av Beit Din Belz, who commanded to proclaim in synagogues and houses of study in his holy name".
In this declaration the Rebbe brings attention to the fact that modesty has been neglected as a result of the hardships of the time of the First World War, and that it is necessary to remind the women about modesty. "and that it is forbidden to make blessings in sight of a married woman with revealed hair or a virgin with revealed flesh", and one is obligated to make self-sacrifice for this. In the margins of the poster "his holiness Maran spoke in his holiness on his pure table about the severity of the prohibition against revealing skin, and with fear and trembling warned against it".
At the bottom of the page the printer added: "these warnings are distributed for free every weekday at 2-3 at Yosef Kapelush Lodz.
The printer of this proclamation was Yosef Kapelush. Before us is something interesting: the form of the "Kol Korei" before us is printed on the title page of the "Machzor Gadol – Yom Kippur", which Rabbi Kapelush printed in 1923 in Lodz. The page of the proclamation was bound by Rabbi Kapelush together with the title page of the machzor. On the back side of the title page Rabbi Kapelush wrote to one of his customers a number of calculations relating to "parcels" and prayer shawls which he received from him, and blessed him with the blessing of "a good writing and sealing in the book of the righteous, your reverer Yosef". These two bound pages were sent in the year 1924 by Rabbi Kapelush in the post to the customer, whose details were filled in by the above mentioned handwriting.
This letter of the Rebbe is famous, but before us we have its first printing, and it is extremely rare. It is not found in libraries in Israel and not listed in the Hebrew Bibliography!
Size: 16*23 cm.
Condition: Good. Tears at the sides of the declaration, with no damage to the Rebbe's words. A small tear in the upper section with no missing text.
