"Miki Ma'oz" Comic Book –Palestine 1947-1948 – 4 Rare Issues, among them, the First in the Series
The first translated comic books that were printed in Hebrew in the Land of Israel.
Books no. 1, 2, 7 and 8 in the Miki Ma'oz series. Published by P. Neidt & Son Press, Tel-Aviv. Lithographic print.
The booklets are illustrated and meant for children, presenting Hebrew versions of the stories of Walt Disney. Mickey Mouse Hebraized his name to Miki Ma'oz. Donald Duck also received a Hebrew name: Danny Avazani.
Colorful, impressive booklets.
The publisher, Yehoshua Tan-Pai (1914-1988), a man of letters and a great poet. His surname was Bodshetsky but since he loved poetry and Piyut, he Hebraized his name to "Paitan". Later he changed his name to "Tan-Pai" – an anagram of Paitan. He thought it important to translate Disney's masterpieces into Hebrew for the Israeli children.
