Correspondence between a Jewish Family from Germany and Their Daughter who Immigrated to Israel with the Youth Aliyah to Kibbutz Ein Charod – 1938 and Onward – Many Interesting letters
Most of the letters were sent from Nazi Germany to the Land of Israel to Lotta-Leah Gross by her parents, Berthold and Nennette Gross. The parents did not survive the Holocaust. They were driven out of Fischach, Bavaria to Lublin, Poland in 1942; there, they were murdered with the father's sister Helena Levi.
During those years, the Youth Aliyah was busy saving German Jewish youth. The children's separation from their parents was heartbreakingly difficult. The parents had hoped to follow in their children's footsteps; however, in many cases, this hope was not fulfilled. This was the fate of the sisters Lotta-Leah and Paula. Sending them to the Land of Israel with the Youth Aliyah had saved their life.
This collection is philately important as well: Nazi postmarks, stamps of the censor and more. It should be noted that some of the letters are "to pay".
Large, important collection.
Condition: Very good.
