The Sha'arei Tzedek Hospital was founded in 1902 and was the first Jewish hospital outside the walls of the Ancient City of Jerusalem. Its establishment was enabled due to the efforts of the Jewish Committee in Frankfurt, which gathered contributions to buy a large plot of land outside the walls.
On the bill it is written that it is meant to ease the poverty and disease caused by the war (World War I). The guarantor bank is in Frankfurt.
