Zos Toras Ha'Chatas. Hanau 1628. Rare edition!
First edition with glosses by R. Pesachya of Frankfurt.
Halachos of “Issur V’Heter” by R. Moses Isserles (The ReMA). This was the first Halachic Sefer of the ReMA.
The Toras Ha’Chatos establishes the final Halachic laws and customs for Ashkenazic Jewry, which in many cases differ from the rulings of R. Yosef Karo in Shulchan Aruch. Although initially met with some opposition, ultimately the rulings of the ReMA were universally accepted by Ashkenazic Jewry.
See Vichuach Mayim Chaim by R. Chaim Ben R. Betzalel (brother of the MaHarAL of Prague), who was a contemporary of the ReMA.
This edition includes additional glosses by R. Pesachya of Frankfurt.
Vinograd Hanau 53. Hans Jacob press. 58 pages. 16 cm. Fine condition. Some stains and wear. Lacking corner of title page not affecting text. Magnificent vellum binding.
Opening bid $300
