Protest against Chilul Hashem of the Legal System – Letter Handwritten and Signed by Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Ha'Cohen Kook, Jerusalem 1964, Rare
Letter sent by Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Ha'Cohen Kook to "the Rabbis of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel … especially his honor, Rabbi Issar Yehuda Unterman". Jerusalem, 1964.
In the letter, Rabbi Kook expresses his pain and protests against the awful Chillul Hashem when the Chief Rabbinate "was ordered to appear" (!) in court and explain the kashrut of the shechita.
"They have humiliated themselves and their state and they are called judges … revealing tactlessness and lack of elementary cultural and humane manners … even if Chaim Cohen and M. landau send you to jail for it…"
Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Ha'Cohen Kook (1891-1982) was the only son of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Ha'Cohen Kook and his disciple. The head of Merkaz Ha'Rav Yeshiva and the spiritual leader of the national-religious community in Israel.
