Free at Last – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1970, Gordy Records, 929, DJ Copy – Motown White Label Promo)
This is a rare 1970 spoken-word album Free at Last featuring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s most powerful speeches, released on Gordy Records (a Motown subsidiary). This particular edition is a DJ Copy (white label promo), which was typically distributed to radio stations and industry professionals before the official commercial release. The album contains some of Dr. King's most profound and historic speeches, including:
Drum Major Instinct Sermon – Delivered at Ebenezer Baptist Church on February 4, 1968, just two months before his assassination.
I’ve Been to the Mountaintop – His final speech, delivered in Memphis on April 3, 1968, the night before his assassination.
Excerpts from I Have a Dream – Concluding with the phrase “Free at last, Free at last, Thank God Almighty, we are free at last.”
This album was produced in collaboration with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and serves as a moving historical document of King’s legacy.
