Scarce Spanish Colonial Polearm, 17th century. Pierced with possible wheel lock tool hole or an opening for a bar to prevent a boar from ruining the spear. During boar hunts a wild boar will run through a typical spear or spontoon right into its attacker. Most Spanish polearms for the boar hunt feature a fixed set of bars where-as other European counterparts would have a removable bar such as this Rare Spanish Colonial example.
