Asante Gold Linguist Staff Finial (Okyeamepoma)
West Africa, Ghana and Cote D'Ivoire, Akan peoples, Asante. Court linguist's staff finial circa mid to early 20th century. Sheets of gold leaf over wood of a seated chief or orator. The figure appears to be sitting on a large oval form bead or gold dust container, wearing a traditional robe, one hand pointed to his cheek with the other at his knee.
