Picture Gallery - Cast Iron Mechanical Bank
Made by Shepard Hardware Company. Buffalo, New York - Circa Late 1880's. The Picture Gallery Bank has two distinct functions. Firstly, as with all toy banks, the owner can save money inside of it. Fascinatingly, it's second use was to teach and reinforce the alphabet for the small children who had the good fortune to play with such a bank. This rare bank featured as part of Shepard's "Excelsior Series", which they produced in the late 1880's and early 1890's.
Condition: Very Fine with Some Chipping.
