Birney Quick Lilac Bush & Peacocks Oil Painting
Birney MacNabb Quick (American, 1912-1981). Large oil on canvas painting titled "Lilac Bush and Golden Trellis, " depicting an abstract lilac bush surrounded by a peacock and peahens, 1969. Signed and dated along the lower right. With a label from the Minneapolis Institute of Art affixed along the stretcher.

Exhibition: Minneapolis Institute of Art, date unknown, likely ca. 1969 - early 1970s.

Provenance: Distinguished Corporate Collection, Minnesota.

Sight; height: 108 in x width: 83 in. Framed; height: 110 1/2 in x width: 85 1/2 in.
Condition: The painting is in good condition overall with no major tears or creases. The color is bold and bright. There are several areas that show minute paint loss. Throughout the recto, there are several areas where the surface is unstable- one in the lower left quadrant. To the left of the unstable surface, there is a 2 inches long black spot that seems either paint accretion or possibly restoration; however, it is difficult to determine what it is. There is a vertical impression below the black spot, measuring 5 inches. No visible sign of restoration from the verso. There is a black paint mark to the center of the verso, most likely original. Wear to the frame. Please contact us for a detailed condition report. Please note that the lack of a condition statement does not imply perfect condition. Email condition@revereauctions.com with any condition questions.
